    Diehl, Henry, Corporal

     

    Corporal Henry Diehl (s/o Joseph H., gs/o John, ggs/o Samuel) was born May

    17, 1842, near Charlesville, Pa., which has always been his home, and on

    Dec. 20, 1866, he married Susanna Weisel, who was born Sept. 13, 1843, Rev.

    W.M. Deatrick officiating. He enlisted in Company D, 55th Pa. Veteran

    Volunteers, Feb. 18, 1864, under Captain Sol Metzger. After battles at Cold

    Harbor and the surrender of Lee at Aapamatox, he was honorably discharged

    as a corporal, Aug. 30, 1865, when he returned and resumed farming as a

    life-long occupation. Mrs. Diehl died Aug. 7, 1912. The family are faithful

    members of the Reformed Church, of which Mr. Diehl has been either deacon

    or elder, some forty years.

    (June 3, 1880-June 23, 1880); 11. Reuben Franklin (Aug. 11, 1881); 12.

    George Ranson (April 23, 1883-Aug. 11, 1883).
