A GOOD MAN GONE.
Dr. L. A. Wisely died at his home in Blaristown last Friday morning, after an extended illness The County History says: "L. A. Wisely, M. D., merchant at norris, is a highly respected citizen of this locality, and was born in Wythe County, Virginia, May 25, 1829. His parents were Daniel and Mary A. (Straw) Wisely, also Virginian by birth. In 1837 the family came to Missouri and located in Callaway County, where Mr. Wisely entered land and improved a farm. In 1841 they removed to Howard County where Daniel Wisely was engaged in farming until his death, in 1868. L. A. served an apprenticeship in the office of the Missouri Democrat, at Fayette, Mo., and worked at the printing business for eight years, three years of the time in St. Louis. While in St. Louis he took advantage of the night schools and supplemented this knowledge by two years attendance at Howard College. After completing his studies he bought out the Platte Argus, at Weston, publishing that paper, in connection with his brother, for three years. He studied medicine under the instruction of Dr. Bowers, of Weston, and took lectures at the University of Virginia, in 1857, graduating in Philadelphia from the Jefferson Medical College, in 1859. Upon the completion of his medical course Dr. W. commenced the practice of his profession in Howard County, in 1860, continuing there for six years.
... He was married in Howard County, June 23, 1863, to Miss Mary F. Bass, a daughter of Geo. P. Bass. She is a native of that county, and received her education at the Howard College. Dr. and Mrs. Wisely have three children, Edna M., George D. and Sally Tuttle. ...

Obituary
Departed this life, on the 3rd inst., at the residence of her father, in this county, Miss MARGARET B. WISELEY, and on the 4th, Miss RACHEL S. WISELEY - the former in the 28th, and the latter n the 25th year of her age. They died of Congestive Fever, after a severe illness of eight or ten days, which they bore with Christian fortitude, and in humble submission to the will of God. They were both exemplary members of the Christian Church in this place. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."

A GOOD MAN GONE.
Dr. L. A. Wisely died at his home in Blairstown last Friday morning, after an extended illness The County History says: "L. A.
Dr. and Mrs. Wisely have three children, Edna M., George D. and Sally Tuttle. ...

UPDATE by contributor Paul Armstrong (46823958):
It's much more likely that William was buried in Greenwood Cemetery in downtown Jackson. This was the original "burial ground" for Jackson until the late 1800's. Lakewood Cemetery [where this memorial was originally placed] was the latest of the large cemeteries developed in the Jackson area around 1920. In 1865, Jackson was a very small city of only about 5,000 people and had not expanded to include the area it does today.
