UNION TOWNSHIP.

 

JOHN WEISEL, farmer, P. O. Mount Cory, was born in Allen Township, this

county, September 6, 1845, son of Isaac and Jane (Dorsey) Weisel, natives

of Pennsylvania, and of German and English descent. They moved from

Pennsylvania to this county about 1835, and settled in Allen Township, on a

farm where they spent the remaining portion of their lives, their deaths

occurring in 1878, within one week of each other. John Weisel, the subject

of this sketch, is the eighth in a family of ten children, nine of whom

grew to maturity. He was reared on a farm, received a common school

education, and has been a farmer all his life. He is the owner of 118 acres

of land in Union Township, this county, where he resides. In 1870 he

married Barbara Jane Swab, daughter of Solomon Swab, and of German descent,

and their children are William R., Charley Otto, Parlee E., Oliver Earl and

Nolin S. Mr. and Mrs. Weisel are members of the Evangelical Association. In

politics he is a Democrat.
